You might find it interesting to know that dance cards were used in 1860s Mexico during the Imperial Balls thrown by the Emperor Maximilian and Empress Carlota. (There's a bit about in my novel, The Last Prince of the Mexican Empire.) I had no idea dance cards originated in Austria!
